Posted on: 15/11/2021Languages Spelling BeeThis week, Year 7 took part in a French and Spanish Spelling Bee. Five students from each class had to stand up in front of the whole language cohort and spell out as many French or Spanish words as they could in one minute in the target language alphabet . The students showed huge courage to perform in front of their peers in a foreign language; one student said, 'I was so scared before it, but I'm very happy I did it!' Congratulations to all participating students. The French winner was Sumiya, and the Spanish winner was Kelly.

Despite nerves, the students performed really well and the Head of the Bank came up to thank them. This was the first time such a performance had happened at the bank and staff there said they would like an annual visit from EGA. The students who performed were: Melissa - Year 11 Elizabeth - Year 10 Lucy - Year 9 Menabe - Year 10 Students were also given a tour of the bank and an insight into the world of financial work. Comments from students: Today, I met some really interesting people. It’s amazing to see what goes on behind the scenes at a place of work. I was nervous but then I remembered what the day was all about.
